Construction Updates
As a reminder, beginning near 9 pm on August 5th (Friday evening), I-94 will be closed for one night in both directions from Cooper St. to US-127 south to allow the demolition of the old Elm Road bridge. The eastbound freeway will open near 6 am on Saturday and the westbound freeway will open near noon on Saturday.
After the bridge demolition, there will be no active bridge over I-94 at Elm Road for approximately 50 days.Â

Additionally, the eastbound exit ramp to Elm and the entrance ramp from Elm to westbound I-94 will be closed near 9 pm on August 5th for approximately 60 days.
All ramps at the Cooper Street interchange will be open during this time. The signed detours will follow Cooper Street north to Parnall/Elm Road and vice versa. The temporary westbound exit ramp to Seymour will remain open during this time.
The eastbound entrance ramp from Elm will also close near August 18th and traffic will be detoured using Michigan Ave to Cooper Street.
The new roundabouts and the new Elm Road bridge are expected to open approximately 50 days after they are closed on August 5th.
